The opera isn’t over until…the Master Singers have delighted you with Verdi’s famous “Anvil Chorus” from Il Trovatore, Wagner’s “Pilgrim’s Chorus” from Tannhåuser, and Mascagni’s “Regina Coeli” from Cavalleria Rusticana. “These choruses are wildly fun for the choir to sing,” Hughes says, “as they provide a chance to portray wildly varying emotions and moods--from the salacious flirtations required by the Habanera from Bizet’s Carmen to the plaintive cries of ‘Ave Maria’ in Poulenc’s Dialogue des Carmelites.” Joining us will be seasoned soloists and upcoming vocal stars from the Sacramento region.
