Elizabeth Johston
Secretary

Elizabeth, or Elli, as she prefers to be called, has served as the secretary of the board since September 2008.  She has sung soprano with the group since 2005.

Elli comes from a musical family.  As a child, her sisters would make her plug her ears and sing the melody so they could learn their choir parts, so there’s no time that she remembers when she wasn’t learning to sing.  She also plays a number of instruments, including the trumpet, saxophone, and clarinet.

Elli is a full time mother and a part-time IT Project Manager, with job responsibilities that also include ‘Film Editor’, ‘Software Tester’ and ‘Tech Support’. She loves singing with the Master Singers, it feels like an extension of her musical family.

Joe is currently Vice-president for Adult Programs for Phoenix House of California, a non-profit organization which provides substance abuse treatment. He recently retired from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, where he served in a variety of managerial and executive positions.  Prior to working for the State, Joe enjoyed a career as the Executive Director of a nonprofit corporation, where he implemented new accounting systems and administered budgets.

Joe has a Masters Degree in human relations and organization development from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelors in political science from Michigan State University.  He hopes to continue singing with the Master Singers as long as they will let him.
