2023-2024 Concert Season

WELCOME TO OUR 40TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT SEASON!

So much has happened in the 40 years since an intimate group of 14 singers, directed with passion by Ken Winter, changed its name from the Camellia Concert Chorale to the Sacramento Master Singers. In 1986, Dr. Hughes took up the conductor’s baton and under his direction, the group has grown to 48-plus members. It is a devoted ensemble of music teachers, choral directors, music students, homemakers, retirees, and professionals in the community whose love of music is a major part of their lives. Our fans now number in the thousands. We have broadened our repertoire to include new styles of music and fresh insights on music long cherished. We have recorded nine CDs, and are releasing our tenth to commemorate this anniversary season. We have toured the Carolinas, Hawaii, and internationally to Venezuela, Scotland, Czech, Austria, Canada, and Hungary.

But some things will never change. The Sacramento Master Singers remain committed to bringing a combination of beloved and new choral works to local stages. We will always strive to sing with passion, to express the full range of human emotion, and we will always treasure the intimate connection chamber music allows us to have with our audiences. Our long-standing tradition of surrounding the audience during a portion of each concert — having singers so close that you can hear them breathe as they tune themselves to the chords of the human heart — is as dear to us as it is to many concertgoers.

Thank you for being part of this momentous celebration! The Sacramento Master Singers are honored to have you as our audience as we embark on this musical journey commemorating our 40th-Season Anniversary. We look forward to celebrating A Master Singer Singers Christmas with you, to entertaining an audience of excited children at the return of Jingle All The Way!, and to reminiscing on the music and time we have shared together at official anniversary concert: Till I Am Filled With Joy. Let the concerts begin, and may the music fill you with joy.
