The first step in the application will be a video performance. Create a video of yourself singing your audition song with a short verbal introduction. Your song must be an Art song, Folk song, Aria or traditional Musical Theater selection (no pop, hymns, or choral arrangements) and it must be accompanied, either live or prerecorded. Follow this script and state the following at the beginning of your video:
Upload your video to YouTube (you will have to create a YouTube account if you don’t already have one). Make sure your video is marked unlisted – not private. If labeled as unlisted, It will only be viewed by scholarship judges or anyone else you decide to share it with.
The easiest way to create your video is with a good Smart Phone which can upload directly to YouTube. Editing of your video is not allowed, with the exception of splicing together your verbal introduction to your vocal performance. Do not edit or in any way enhance your vocal performance. We suggest you sing from memory so you can look directly into the camera. The video should show approximately 50% of your body (from the waist up). Smile, speak clearly and do your best!
